Privacy Policy
Last updated: 08/03/2026
1. Who we are
Rig Scene is an asset management platform for viewing and managing facilities through interactive maps and 360 imagery, with optional modules such as dropped object (PDO) management. This privacy policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect personal data when you use our website and services.
We process personal data in accordance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.
2. We do not sell your data
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data. We do not share your personal data with third parties for their own marketing purposes. Data is used only to operate Rig Scene, support you, and improve the service as described in this policy.
3. Information we collect
We may collect:
- Account and profile information — name, email address, company, and role when you sign up or use Rig Scene.
- Data you provide in the app — assets, PDOs, level images, 360 panoramas, point cloud attachments, audit data, and other content you create or upload.
- Contact form and enquiries — details you submit via our contact form (name, email, company, message) when requesting a demo or getting in touch.
- Technical and usage data — IP address, browser type, device information, and how you use the service, where relevant for security, operation, and (with your consent) analytics.
- Cookie and consent records — your cookie preferences and a record of consent choices (timestamp, categories accepted, policy version) so we can demonstrate compliance.
4. How we use your information and lawful bases
We use personal data only where permitted by law. The main lawful bases are:
- Contract — to provide Rig Scene, manage your account, and deliver the service you or your organisation has signed up for.
- Legitimate interests — to respond to enquiries, maintain security, prevent abuse, and improve the platform (balanced against your rights).
- Legal obligation — where we must retain or disclose data to comply with law.
- Consent — for optional analytics cookies (Google Analytics via Firebase) and any optional marketing communications where we ask for your permission.
5. Analytics (Google Analytics / Firebase)
With your consent, we use Google Analytics provided through Firebase Analytics (Google) to understand how visitors and users interact with our website and application — for example which pages are viewed and how features are used. This helps us improve Rig Scene.
Google may process data in the United States and other countries. Google acts as a processor under our instructions. We do not use analytics data to sell or profile you for third-party advertising. You can withdraw analytics consent at any time via Manage cookies in the site footer.
Learn more about how Google uses data: Google partner sites policy.
6. Data storage, security, and retention
Your data is stored on secure cloud infrastructure (including Google Cloud / Firebase). Access to your organisation’s data is limited to authorised users and our operations team where needed to run the service.
We retain personal data only as long as necessary:
- Account data — for the life of your account and a reasonable period after closure for backup, legal, or dispute purposes.
- Contact enquiries — typically up to 24 months unless a longer period is needed to manage your relationship.
- Consent records — retained to demonstrate compliance with cookie and privacy requirements.
- Security and server logs — for a limited period appropriate for security monitoring.
7. Sharing and subprocessors
We do not sell personal data. We use trusted service providers (subprocessors) who process data on our behalf under contract, including:
- Google Cloud / Firebase — hosting, authentication, storage, and analytics (when consented).
- Formspree — processing contact form submissions on our marketing site.
We may disclose data where required by law or to protect safety and rights.
8. International transfers
Some subprocessors (including Google) may process data outside the UK. Where this occurs, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or equivalent mechanisms approved under UK GDPR.
9. Your rights
Under UK GDPR you may have the right to:
- Access your personal data
- Correct inaccurate data
- Delete your data (in certain circumstances)
- Restrict or object to processing
- Data portability (where applicable)
- Withdraw consent (for processing based on consent, such as analytics cookies)
To exercise these rights or ask questions, use the contact form or email info@rigscene.com. We will respond within one month where required by law.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
10. Cookies and similar technologies
We use cookies and similar technologies as follows:
- Essential cookies — required to operate the site, maintain security, and remember your cookie preferences. These do not require consent.
- Analytics cookies (Google Analytics / Firebase) — only set if you accept analytics cookies. Used to measure usage and improve the service. Provider: Google.
You can change your choices at any time using Manage cookies in the footer. You can also control cookies through your browser settings.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will post the updated version on this page and update the “Last updated” date. Where changes are significant, we will take additional steps to inform you where appropriate.
12. Contact
For privacy-related questions or requests, use the contact form on the Rig Scene website or email info@rigscene.com.
